Pioneer Masonry Restoration Company has been in the facade restoration and waterproofing business since our founding in 1957. In this time we have completed over 15,000 projects throughout the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Canada, the Czech Republic, Romania, China and Russia.
We have built the most skilled and experienced team in the business. Most of our key personnel have been with us for over 20 years; many for over 25 years. We believe this broad base of experience in all phases of façade restoration and waterproofing give us the knowledge to approach our work with skill and confidence.

Mike Field, President
In addition to being President and General Manager of the company, Mike has acted as Project Manager on such projects as the American Embassies in Prague, Bucharest and Beijing; the Legislative Building (State Capitol) in Olympia, the Puget Sound Bank Plaza in Seattle, and IBM Building in Seattle. Mike holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Building Construction from the University of Washington, done graduate work towards a Master’s in Business Administration at Seattle University, and has been with Pioneer Masonry for 31 years. During his tenure at Pioneer, the company has performed restoration projects on over 8,000 buildings. Mike is on the board of trustees of the Western Washington Trowel Trades Apprenticeship Board and the regional board of the International Masonry Institute.
Joel Jacobsen, Vice President
Joel has been with Pioneer for 33 years. He has served an apprenticeship (in masonry restoration) with the Bricklayer’s Local 1 and currently is a member of the Western Washington masonry Trades Joint Apprentice & Training Committee. He is currently Vice President and General Superintendent.
Larry Tompkins, Estimator/Project Manager
Larry has been with Pioneer for over 30 years and has served an apprenticeship as a restoration mason. He was a field superintendent for many years before being promoted to an estimating position. He has extensive experience in façade inspection and waterproofing systems.
Bob Mitchell, Estimator/Project Manager
Bob has been an estimator with Pioneer Masonry Restoration Company since 1997, after having served in the field at Pioneer since 1974. He is a nationally certified instructor for the International Masonry Institute and is past instructor for the International Masonry Institute. He has extensive experience in façade inspection and waterproofing systems.
Don Jacobsen, Estimator/Project Manager
Don has been with Pioneer for over 30 years and has served an apprenticeship as a restoration mason. He was a field superintendent for many years before being promoted to an estimating position. He has extensive experience in inspecting and trouble-shooting water intrusion problems in exterior wall systems and below grade foundations.
